Every once in a while, I make myself try foods that I haven't liked in the past. Usually, I end up liking things that I didn't like when I was little. Sushi has become one of my favorite foods even though I thought it was gross until high school. By far the thing I've tried to get myself to like the most is Indian food. Unfortunately, the parts of Indian cuisine I like the most--flaky and/or fried breads (duh), basmati rice, lentils, saffron, and lots of vegetables--are far outweighed by my hatred of coriander/cilantro, cumin, and most curries. I'm also just so "eh" about spicy food. I don't hate it, but if I'm enjoying a meal, I don't want it to be uncomfortably spicy. Anyway, tonight I decided I would try it again for the first time in a few years. I figured I would probably be over my not-liking-Indian-food stage by now. Wrong. I felt like Michael Scott when he thought he was going to be eating a s'more and instead found himself spitting out a samosa. Yuck. (I actually don't mind a samosa, myself, but...boring.) Next time I get it in my head to try Indian food again, can you please tell me to skip it? Or perhaps you can just recommend something I won't find revolting.
