Heyhey. The mystery of the thongsicle (see last night's audiopost) wasn't very much of a mystery at all. The other two roommates froze my roommate's thong as a joke. Shrug.

At the beginning of the program, we had a dance teacher who I really liked. Unfortunately, she had a family emergency and had to leave. I cannot stand her replacement. First of all, she throws us off when she counts off. "Five six seven eight" should be in the same tempo that you want the dance to be in. But she kind of just says it. It doesn't work. Anyway, I could handle that, whatever, btu she is also not familiar with a lot of musical terms. So it's really hard for us to communicate. Like yesterday, she kept telling us to stamp on the "down beat" so we kept stamping on one. Which is the downbeat in music, right? But she wanted it on one and three, so I said "Oooh ok. In music the downbeat's just on one" and she said, "Look. I am not a musician, just do what I do." She thought I was being rude. I definitely wasn't. Not out loud anyway. But whatever, the dancers in the class said that the "downbeat" is different in dance than it is in music, so maybe that's why she was offended. Shrug.

We had our first walkout yesterday. Girl I Switched Rooms With also was not getting along with the dance teacher. She kept telling GISRW that she was doing a step wrong, and she was getting frustrated, and GISRW eventually said "ok, you're the teacher, I'll let you have it" which was rude, so the teacher got mad and GISRW walked out in a whirlwind of emotion and drama. Then she and her friend missed the next class because, i suppose, they were recovering. Whatever.

Despite my complaining (I know, there's a lot of it, sorry), the classes are still awesome. My favorite part of the day, though, is warming up in the practice rooms in the morning because you can walk through the hall and hear all different people playing their instruments and singing. It's such a nice way to start the day.

Later!
